B-web 93 00 terminal – Success in the red dot award: product design 2011

The B-web 93 00 terminal from Kaba GmbH, Villingen-Schwenningen was convincing: At the red dot design award, one of the most renowned international design competitions, the terminal for time and attendance has now been given an “honourable mention” by the high-caliber jury. The design experts thus pay tribute to products that stand out for their particularly successful detailed solutions.

Behind a high-quality glass front, B-web 93 00 meets current and future requirements of users in the area of time and attendance. The modern aesthetics of the device fit harmoniously into contemporary architecture. The purist design is underlined by modern user guidance. The intuitive operation is done by means of “Guide by light” – only currently available functions are lit up.

The recoil case means that the terminal appears to float in front of the wall. With the wall holder, which has also been newly developed, installation is made substantially easier.

“As always, our jury reviewed the submitted products extremely critically. Design quality clearly prevailed in the judging process and genuine, new creative solutions were also honored. Both criteria are not only an indicator of good design but also for success potential on the market. This is increased several times over by the specific use of our renowned design award,” explains Professor Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award. This year, some 1,700 designers and companies from 60 nations participated with 4,433 products in the red dot award: product design.

Today, the red dot design award, the origins of which go back to 1955, is the largest and most renowned design competition in the world. It is divided into the three disciplines “red dot award: product design”, “red dot award: communication design” and “red dot award: design concept”.
